Manna House: Feeding Families in Corona for Over 30 Years

Inland Vineyard ChurchFebruary 15, 20268 min read

Every Saturday morning, hundreds of families drive through the parking lot of Inland Vineyard Church in Corona, California. They're not coming for a service—they're coming for Manna House, a food bank that has been quietly transforming lives since 1995.

What Makes Manna House Different

Unlike traditional food banks that hand out pre-packed boxes, Manna House operates more like a grocery store. Families get to choose their own food—selecting items that match their dietary needs, cultural preferences, and family size.

"When you are able to pick out what you want or need, it allows for people to feel normal," explains Lead Pastor Travis Twyman. "For us, it's not just about meeting a practical need. In meeting those needs, we are also seeking to communicate that people are special, important, valued, and loved."

More Than Just Food

What truly sets Manna House apart is its holistic approach to serving the community:

  • Drive-Through Shopping: Convenient, dignified access to quality groceries from local food stores
  • Free Medical Clinic: Volunteer doctors and nurses provide vital signs, basic care, and health resources
  • Prayer Booth: Trained volunteers offer spiritual support and a listening ear
  • Resource Connections: Help connecting families to additional community services

The Numbers Tell the Story

Since opening its doors in 1995, Manna House has served countless families in the Corona area. Every Saturday (except the 5th Saturday of the month), the church campus transforms into a beacon of hope:

  • When: Saturday mornings, 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM
  • Where: 935 McKinley Street, Corona, CA 92879
  • How: Drive-through service via the parking lot off Ranch Vista Road
  • Who: Anyone in need—no appointments, no questions, no judgment

A Story of Transformation

The impact of Manna House extends far beyond providing groceries. Pastor Twyman shares a powerful example:

"Recently, the program helped a woman whose husband left her, leaving her as the family's sole provider. She could not pay for an education and also feed her family. Manna House's support allowed her to afford truck driving school. After a year and a half of studies and training, she graduated and accepted a job."

This is the heart of Manna House—not just meeting immediate needs, but helping people build better futures.

We're All in This Together

"We don't see this as an 'us and them' situation," Pastor Twyman emphasizes. "We all have hurts and we all have needs. We are all in this together."

This philosophy creates a unique atmosphere where those who come for assistance often return as volunteers. The line between helper and helped becomes beautifully blurred, creating genuine community.

Featured in the Press

Manna House's impact hasn't gone unnoticed. The Press Enterprise highlighted the program's innovative approach, noting how volunteers "are often surprised at how much fun they have" and how "families who have come for assistance often feel the urge to help as well."

The program has also received support from the Arbor Fund at The Community Foundation, recognizing its effective community service model.

  • Volunteer Your Time: Help on Saturday mornings or with special events
